When I was preparing my heart and thinking about the new sermon series in the book of Lamentations we are about to dive into, this song came to mind. In times of lament, deep sorrow, grieving, doubt, uncertainty, etc., how sweet it is to know our Lord wants to comfort us. Even when we don’t understand and we're wrestling with how to manage these emotions, we need to trust in the only One who can give us true comfort and peace. Following His plan and being willing to go wherever He leads is trusting in the hope of all of God’s promises and that “whatever my God ordains is right." Please take a listen and read the truths of the lyrics below. I hope it gives you comfort and encouragement as we study the book of Lamentations.
Whatever my God ordains is rightHis holy will abideI will be still, whatever He doesAnd follow where He guides
Sweet comfort, sweet comfortYet shall fill my heartSweet comfort, sweet comfortSorrow shall depart
Whatever my God ordains is rightHe makes my feet to standThough sorrow, need, or death be mineHe holds me in His hand
Sweet comfort, sweet comfortYet shall fill my heartSweet comfort, sweet comfortSorrow shall depart
This bitter cup, I take itMy fainting heart restoredSo here I stand, unshakenI trust upon the Lord
Sweet comfort, sweet comfortYet shall fill my heartSweet comfort, sweet comfortSorrow shall depart
He is my God, though dark my roadHe holds me, I shall not fallWhatever my God ordains is rightTo Him, I leave it all
Oh, sweet comfort, sweet comfortYet shall fill my heartSweet comfort, sweet comfortSorrow shall depart
Sorrow shall depart
Sorrow shall depart
